Lance has lived in Hermosa Beach for 35 years. He and his wife, Christine, have been married for 22 years, and both their son (Brian) and daughter (Danielle) are graduates of the Hermosa schools. He is a former Hermosa Beach Mayor and City Council Member, currently serves as Executive Director of the South Bay Center for Dispute Resolution, and is now in his 37th year of teaching Political Science at El Camino College.

He believes that learning involves a unique blend of profession and passion, helping students achieve their full potential. Excellence in education is necessarily a balance among math, language skills and science, along with the arts, critical thinking skills, sports and creative leisure time with peers. Its success depends on quality teachers and staff, involved parents and community support. That is our challenge and our goal
