Quick Facts:
Information on how it works:In 1844, Samuel Morse sent the first important message through a Telegraph, using Morse Code. The Morse code is a series of dots and dashes that represent letters numbers, numbers and punctuation. By varying the timing and spacing of the on-and-off pulses, telegraph operators can send messages. Morse Code defines the timing and spacing of each character in terms of long and short "on" states called dashes and dots. For example the letter M would be dash-dash; the letter D would be dash-dot-dot.
