It's time to sign up for the 2008 Winter Trimester! New members are welcome! The second trimester dates are January 14 through March 20, 2008, culminating in the Solo & Ensemble Concert on the evening of March 20th.

Hermosa Valley School is very excited to announce the second trimester of our second year of our instrumental music program, directed by Mr. Ken Harrison. The band program is tailored for both first-time musicians, as well as more experienced players. The Blue Band is aimed at beginners and intermediates in grades 4-5, and the Gold Band is for beginners and intermediates in grades 6-8. Beginning musicians will learn how to play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments, read and write music, and perform in ensembles. More experienced players may continue with more challenging music or learn a new instrument.

Hermosa Valley Band is dedicated to quality music education, cultivating teamwork, individual responsibility, and most of all, a fun and creative musical experience. Enrich your child's life through music!

Cost
Tuition is $200 per trimester, and there is a one trimester commitment once registered. Make your check payable to "Hermosa Beach Education Foundation" with "Instrumental Music" in the memo section.

How to Register

Step 1 - Choose an Instrument
Students attend the Instrument Petting Zoo at lunchtime in the bowl on Friday, 1/11/08. Returning students interested in changing instruments, contact Mr. Harrison.

Step 2 - Register by Monday, 1/14/08
Print and complete the registration form, and turn in your form and check to the HVS office.

Step 3 - Get Materials*: BIPS! by Monday, 1/14/08
B- Book: Essential Elements 2000 (Blue Band gets Book 1, Gold Band gets Book 2)
I- Instrument: rent, purchase, or apply for school-owned instrument. (See HVS Band Handbook for more info.)
P- Pencil: Sharpened #2 Pencil with eraser
S- Stand: Foldable Music Stand; a case is recommended
Turn in Band-T Shirt Order Form to Mr. Harrison by Monday, 1/14/08.

Step 4 - Review Band Expectations with Your Musician
Please read and discuss the policies in the Band Handbook with your child. Turn in Band Handbook agreement to Mr. Harrison first day of band.
