Hola familias y estudiantes de la escuela del Valle Hermoso,
Teaching 7th and 8th grade Spanish represents a full circle career path that began in the foreign language department at Redondo Union High School where I taught Spanish, French and even a special class for Valley 8th graders who traveled every morning to the high school for accelerated Spanish and algebra. (Just think -- some of them could be your parents, aunts or uncles!)

After 18 years as a classroom teacher, I became a high school counselor and vice principal (Redondo High), a middle school principal (Palos Verdes) and a Director of Human Resources (Manhattan Beach). My final assignment was at the LA County Office of Education as Director of Teacher Recruitment for 81 school districts. I traveled all over the US, Canada and even Costa Rica recruiting teachers for our communities.

No, I am not 100 years old, but I have been busy over the last half-century. I hold a BA in Spanish, with minors in English, French and history, a Masters in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin, and a Ph. D. in education from USC. After retiring a few years ago, I enjoyed substitute teaching at Valley and was delighted to have the opportunity to return on a regular basis.
I am looking forward to an estupendo year of learning Spanish and getting to know you!
