My teaching career began at a wonderful school in Inglewood called La Tijera. It was a gifted magnet school at the time and I loved teaching there. I taught mostly 1st grade but also spent a year teaching kindergarten and 2nd grade.

I have taught in the Hermosa Beach City School District since 1984, starting at North School as a 3rd grade teacher, then Hermosa View for a few months, and finally landing at Hermosa Valley where I have been ever since. Besides teaching 3rd grade, I have taught 4th grade for 11 years. I love both grade levels and to me there is nothing more precious than a child of that age. They are at the height of their maturity and are so eager to learn. When I am not teaching, my husband, John, a high school principal, and I are parents to Steven, Erin and Kara and grandparents to Isaiah, Aidan and Scarlett O'Brien, My daughter in law, Megan, rounds out the family.

My hobbies include swimming, body surfing, and riding the tallest scariest roller coasters alive!

I love coming to work each day and look forward to teaching the young people of Hermosa Beach.
