HVPTO is once again collecting leftover Halloween Candy and Letters for our Troops - 250th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Battalion and Operation Gratitude from November 1-4. Care packages with the candy and letters will be sent to deployed troops, veterans, new recruits, and first responders. Additionally, some of the candy will go to about 40 children at the Ronald McDonald House.
If your child doesn't have an opportunity to write a letter at school, please encourage them to write one at home. We also welcome letters from family members. Please be sure review the Operation Gratitude's letter writing tips HERE before writing your letter.
Candy collection boxes will be located outside the school offices at Hermosa View, Vista, & Valley. HVPTO is asking that all candy either be in new, unopened bags, or placed in Ziploc-style resealable bags (loose or unsealed bags cannot be accepted). If it gets really warm, the collection box may be moved inside so the candy doesn't melt.
Letters can be placed in the RED letter collection tray at each school office marked "Letters for the Troops." No envelopes, please.
