As part of our "Be Safe, Be SMART" E-Bike & E-Scooter Campaign developed 'by students for students,' we're launching a mandatory E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety Course provided in partnership with Safe Moves and Beach Cities Cycling Club. This course has been designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to ride their e-bikes safely. Students will learn about the rules of the road, proper helmet usage, and responsible e-bike/e-scooter riding practices. Beginning fall 2023, students who wish to park their e-bikes on our Hermosa Valley campus must participate in ONE E-Bike Safety Course offered.
Wednesday, February 28, 2024 (NEW DATE after 1/24/2024 was postponed)
3:00-4:30 PM
Hermosa Valley Blacktop
All registrants from the 1/24/2024 date were moved to this new date. Registration is full.
Upon a student's completion, they will receive a numbered registration sticker, which they must place on their e-bike or e-scooter. If an e-bike or e-scooter is not registered, parents/guardians will be contacted to come pick up their child's e-bike or e-scooter. Questions? Email Alison Montoya, Hermosa Valley Assistant Principal, at [email protected].
If your child cannot attend this training, here is another option...
Hermosa Valley has approved an equivalency training certification with E-Bike Sense (ebikesense.com). This two-hour small-group safety training course is provided by E-Bike Sense founder Megan Lamb and is sponsored by the South Bay Bicycling Coalition. The Hermosa Beach City School District is not affiliated with this program and participation is at the cost of the participants. See flyer for details.
