HVPTO: RAA Guest Reader - 1st Grade Assembly with Jane West Bakerink (Creator of Piney the Lonesome Pine Book)

As part of Read Across America Week, our 1st Graders will be attending a Special Guest Readers Assembly on Tuesday, March 5, from 9:00-9:30 AM, in the View MPR. Jane West Bakerink, who self-published her first children’s book, The Lonesome Pine, in 2000, will be making a special visit. Jane wrote the screenplay and two songs based upon that book, and in 2019, the now Emmy® nominated animation special, Piney: The Lonesome Pine, was produced and premiered on the Disney platforms. Piney airs throughout the world in seven languages. In 2022 Jane adapted the animated special into a 32-page picture book, Piney: The Lonesome Pine - A Holiday Classic. We look forward to welcoming her to Hermosa View!
